Brett Saunders
With a legacy of athletic excellence in his veins, Coach Brett brings unmatched experience and passion to the triathlon community. Raised in a family deeply rooted in endurance sports, Brett inherited not only talent and dedication but also a profound understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest level. His father competed as an Olympic cyclist for Canada in 1992, while his mother set nine world records in open‑water swimming before completing 24 Ironmans as a professional triathlete.
This remarkable family background shaped Brett’s own journey. Growing up in Delaware, he explored cycling, triathlons, and tennis before choosing to swim collegietly at the University of Tampa. There, he excelled as an NCAA All‑American swimmer, earning honors such as Conference Scholar‑Athlete of the Year and Swimmer of the Year. His success in the pool seamlessly carried over to triathlon, where he made a powerful debut at Ironman Florida, recording the fastest overall swim time by several minutes. That performance led to his recruitment by the Canadian National Team, specializing in draft‑legal triathlons.
Since 2021, Brett has dedicated himself to training, racing, and coaching athletes both online and in person. His work alongside world‑class coaches and competitors has refined his approach, blending physical preparation with mental resilience. Brett’s mission is to guide athletes of all abilities, from first‑time triathletes to elite age‑groupers, using personalized coaching strategies to unlock their full potential.
Under Coach Brett’s guidance, athletes can expect a training experience built on passion, expertise, and a genuine commitment to their success. His unique background and athlete‑first philosophy ensure that every goal becomes a shared mission, and every athlete has the opportunity to show up on race day as the strongest version of themselves.
Katie McCune
With a lifelong dedication to sport and performance, Coach Katie brings a wealth of experience, passion, and insight to the triathlon community. Raised with a love for competitive athletics, Katie’s journey began on the track, where she raced for the University of Arkansas and Drury University, earning NCAA All-American honors twice in the 800 meters and competing across distances from the 400m to the 5K. Her early success on the track laid the foundation for a career defined by discipline, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of improvement.
Following graduation, Katie competed professionally on the running circuit, excelling on both track and road, before transitioning to elite triathlon. Now a member of USA Triathlon’s High Performance team, she has fully embraced the challenges of longer distances while continuing to specialize in draft-legal triathlons, constantly refining her skills and strategies to perform at the highest level.
Katie’s coaching philosophy is rooted in creating a supportive, motivating, and results-driven environment. Josh Bird
With a lifelong background in swimming and endurance sports, Coach Josh brings a unique blend of athletic achievement and practical coaching experience to every athlete he works with. His journey began in the pool, where years of dedication led to multiple Academic All-Canadian honors and four National Age Group medals. His success in swimming later translated seamlessly into triathlon, highlighted by an Ironman 70.3 victory and the ROKA Swim Course Award at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship after recording the fastest swim split of the day.
Josh's experiences as both an athlete and coach have shaped a philosophy centered on consistency, patience, and long-term development. Since transitioning into coaching, Josh has worked with athletes across a wide range of abilities and goals. His individualized approach focuses on identifying areas for improvement while maximizing each athlete's unique strengths. By providing structure, accountability, and clear guidance, he creates an environment where athletes can train with purpose and trust the process.
The results of that athlete-centered approach have helped competitors achieve personal best performances at the Boston Marathon and earn qualification to the Ironman World Championship. Whether guiding a first-time racer toward the finish line or helping an experienced athlete pursue ambitious performance goals, Josh is committed to ensuring every athlete arrives on race day healthy, confident, and prepared to perform at their best.
